Hoe bijzonder ben jij?

Het zit er op. Ook mijn jongste zoon mocht deze week groep 8 afsluiten en de deur van de basisschool achter zich dicht doen. Na een schooljaar dat vooral in het teken stond van afronden met de eindtoets, de musical en het schoolverlaterskamp, mocht hij op de laatste dag door het raam de school uit en door een erehaag van kinderen het schoolplein af. Maar toen was hij er nog niet. Het schooljaar werd pas écht afgesloten met de gala-avond: in zijn deftigste kleren naar school voor een casino-avond met zijn klasgenoten.


Ik weet niet of het bij jullie ook zo is, maar hier is het de bedoeling om niet alleen je mooiste kleren aan te trekken, maar ook in een zo-bijzonder-mogelijk voertuig op school afgezet te worden. En dus stapten er kinderen uit een Lamborghini, een Ferrari of juist een prachtige oldtimer.

Elk kind werd vervolgens aangekondigd met een kort verhaaltje waar ze zelf de input voor mochten leveren. Ze moesten iets vertellen over het voertuig, wie de eigenaar was en wie de chauffeur. En er moest antwoord gegeven worden op de vraag “Wat maakt dit voertuig zo bijzonder?”.

En dus luisterde ik naar hoe oud, duur of zeer zeldzaam de auto’s en motoren waren die voorbij trokken.

Achteraan de stoet zat een jongen achterop een motor. Toen hij afgezet werd bij school werd zijn tekst voorgelezen: “Dit voertuig is heel bijzonder, omdat … ik erop zit.”

Deze woorden werden ontvangen met een mix van gelach en ge-aaah. Want eigenlijk sloeg hij de spijker op zijn kop. Het is niet het voertuig, niet je score op de eindtoets, niet je schooladvies wat jou bijzonder maakt. Jij bent bijzonder, omdat jij het bent.

Wat een wijsheid. Wat mij betreft was hij met vlag en wimpel geslaagd voor de basisschool.

So just a bit of an intro, like I just mentioned I have monolids so I have to use a thick, and I mean THICK, line of eyeliner for anything to even show up once my eyes are open. Not only that I also have oily lids so eyeliners never had a good staying power for me and since I have to use a thick line if it smudges it smudges BAD. Three of these are in brown shades, which is what I predominately use, the Clio was in a different shade just because I didn’t want to have so many brown eyeliners. All of these were tested during a hot summer day while I worked at my physically intensive job! Onto the comparisons:
